Congratulations for making it! ...Is what I would say, but this isn't the end for you. I can't imagine your tale ending so soon, you have a lot to figure out, detective! I wonder what sort of story you'll show the transfer students and natives here, what will be the moral of it? Witnessing your narrative will instill them with so much hope that I can only imagine what the future will look like for you all. I wish we could sit in the library and exchange books, question their methods and motives to pass time. That's asking for too much, isn't it? I've read a lot of books alone, but there's one I've yet to finish... can you guess which that is? The story I want to read every page of, the one that I want to admire every sentence of... I wrote too much, so I'll help you finish this one, at least...

Coming from Komaeda specifically... even with no context, that's cause enough for worry. Damn it... why does the school feel more crowded than ever when he's in a bit of a rush? That's probably why though, but he makes it to the library eventually, slowing down right in front of the doors before he lets himself in. He has the distinct feeling the librarian would kill him if he ran around while inside and showed any sign he might make a mess.
That being said though... he does remember what Komaeda told him. His favorite genre... is mystery, right? Something they have in common, and Saihara's footsteps carry him over towards that section almost by reflex. Although... that's still a pretty broad selection? How is he supposed to narrow it down? ]

His shoulders feel stiff, and he holds his breath over the very last stretch, almost reluctant to touch the title he's returned to. It doesn't stand out in any way physically, so one might call this just a hunch, with no evidence to back it at all. Is he overthinking this...? ]
But... if I remember correctly...

He almost puts it back as soon as he grabs it, pulling it out only a fraction of the way before looking ready to shove it back in. But can he really turn away from the truth? He's not sure which would be worse -- if he was right in his reasoning, or if there's nothing at all in this book and the fact that he thought of it stands as testament of himself instead. Of how he thinks. Of how... he's misread Komaeda. ]
The culprit in this specific story...
[ ...is the narrator. And not only that, he plays a specific part for the main detective who works on the case.
He pulls the book off the shelf like it burns him, almost, and then flips it open with clumsy hands that feel leaden and paralyzed with his own hesitation. ]
there's a folded note tucked in the crease of the book on the first page, and written on the outside is: "YOU FOUND ME." opening it will have the following contents: a ripped piece of paper, and afterthoughts.
The book you were hoping for... to have the answer in it, that is! Who is hurt more in the end, I wonder... The reader? The detective? Or maybe that's the charm of this story - that you share in his betrayal. To be overcome with a sense of grief, anger, denial... as if the truth itself is mocking you. That's a normal reaction, I believe that hope's born from your shared predicament, Sheppard taking part in Poirot's growth for the readers to witness.... sometimes it takes a few lives to fertilize the very ground someone walks on to see them grow beautiful... even at the cost of your own.
Good work coming this far... now you deserve a moment of reprieve to refuel. You skipped breakfast, didn't you?
It would be wiser to try and piece together the scraps of the other note, perhaps -- since it's been split, it's pretty clear that it's the one with the real message, rather than whatever else Komaeda had to say. Komaeda's rambles about the book itself, but perhaps it's precisely the silence of the library, the knowledge it'll be lost to anyone but himself, that lets him answer. ]

saihara's decisions have been registered, and ball monokuma hops once onto one leg, so that the other is hoisted up for him to kick a few times (trying his very best to get the toilet tissue off because the shape of his body won't permit it), then he does the other in the same fashion. ball monokuma's massive body stands still to assess the area from the sound he heard, and once that's complete the unit's left red, jagged eye glows brightly to initiate █████ ███████!

[ he has to act quickly... it's easier to throw in a straight line, but he's worried it won't make enough noise to distract the ball monokuma this time, since it already saw him. this calls for some quick thinking -- saihara throws the west-most piece and aims it at the wall of the library. this way, when it hits the solid surface it can bounce and change trajectory, landing at ball monokuma's feet and causing it to trip. ]
