IMPRESSIONS ⮜
Image reference. Averagely thin, not too tall and not too short either, and maybe a bit on the pale side. He has dark hair somewhere between blue and green, which kind of hides part of his face, and his eye color is a muted gold. His usual outfit is a black school uniform with grey pinstripes, the school crest emblazoned on its front pocket, and a set of buttons that double towards the top. Could be considered a pretty boy if... only you could see his face properly. If pulled from very early canon, he also wears a hat in addition, which he uses to cover his eyes.
Voiced by Megumi Hayashibara (click to listen). His voice is very soft and leans on the quiet side by nature. He tends to speak with a degree of reservation, thoughtful pauses or hesitation, but gets audibly firmer while making deductions or logical arguments.
Nothing in particular, probably some ordinary laundry detergent from his clothes, or soap. Maybe books sometimes.
Saihara has a tendency to hide his face, avoid eye contact and try to stay quiet, unless he actually feels he has something useful to say. Even then, he might be a little distant, and close physical interaction can tend to startle him if unexpected. If he comes off as insecure, it's probably because he is, and sometimes his voice might stutter when caught by surprise. Despite this, he's quite helpful when asked, and because of his logical nature, he can feel pretty dependable in situations that require careful analysis or solutions. Generally at his best when he has someone else for encouragement, so he can stay calm and think things through.

I won't typically do this, but I also don't super mind it to be honest, especially if it's just for jokes.
It's fine, he'll just have an existential crisis on the inside every time. In 90% of the cases, this will also be accompanied by an existential crisis on the outside. He's great at this.
Sure! He's just a regular person with no special abilities and can't offer a lot of resistance. Just ask me first if you want to inflict any severe or permanent damage.
Open to both gen and shipping (m/f and m/m). Favorite canonmates for shipping with him are Akamatsu, Ouma or Momota, but the game is kind of wild with this stuff so I'm willing to give pretty much anything a try. I also really live for interactions with the other DR protags, and cross-canon is great as well! He's a very flexible character, and his occupation as a detective makes for easy CR.
He has no special psychic abilities. If your character can read minds, they probably wouldn't have a lot of trouble seeing his thoughts. He's an anxious mess sometimes though, so the quality of what they get may vary. As for manipulation, honestly he's more susceptible than you'd think for a detective, but he does catch on if there are inconsistencies so simpler is better.
On principle, he's just a normal guy. The only thing he has is his "talent" which means, the way his canon works, he's particularly good at one specific thing. In Saihara's case, that's detective work. Not a very tangible skill, but the series has sometimes alluded that talents can be noticed or sensed, so your character may do so if they have the ability. But it may also feel "off" (because Spoilers) and I'm willing to play with that.
On the physical front, nothing noteworthy. Mentally though, his memories have been messed with extensively, in several layers of erasure and overwriting.
Failure, not being skilled enough, being doubted or wrong -- basically all the makings of impostor syndrome. Saihara also has unpleasant memories of the first official case he solved (the one that caused him to be selected as Ultimate Detective), which result in a pervasive fear that the truth he reveals with his deductions may do more harm than good. Also, considering his canon, his friends dying is never a great topic either.
I can't think of much that could arise from this character specifically, but the series he comes from is full of a lot of triggering content. If you have any specific worries, you can let me know just to be safe.
